John August Swanson - Diane Powers was pleased to invite you to meet one of the world’s foremost serigraph artists, the incomparable John August Swanson. Mr. Swanson works in the vibrant colors of medieval illuminated manuscripts. He is particularly inspired by biblical stories, and what they say about the courage and resiliency of the human spirit in times of adversity. Each is created by painstakingly hand-cutting a single silk-screen for each color printed – as many as 89 screens layering color over color. Each is then signed and numbered. John was here to discuss his work and inspirations. He is delightful and it’s always a special day when he is here with us. |
