Cinco de Mayo FiestaCinco de Mayo FiestaDiane Powers Brings Cinco de Mayo to New Venues, Ventures
Celebration featuring weekend of food, folklore and fun

Festive mariachi music, folkloric dancers, authentic Mexican food, and frothy margaritas -is there any better way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo than at Diane Powers' Bazaar del Mundo Shops and restaurants Casa Guadalajara, Casa de Pico and the new Casa de Bandini?
In honor of the popular national Mexican holiday, all venues will feature Cinco de Mayo-inspired food and drink specials, including the signature "Cincorita"- a refreshing strawberry and kiwi margarita made to match the colors of the Mexican flag - green, white and red - along with other imaginative non-alcoholic fruit concoctions to encourage safe celebrating.
Sometimes confused with Mexican Independence Day (September 16), the Cinco de Mayo holiday celebrates the Battle of Puebla, in which vastly outnumbered Mexican forces defeated the Imperialist French Army on May 5, 1862.
Diane Powers continues her dedication to the exposition of Mexican cultures; she first launched Old Town's Cinco de Mayo festival in 1983; it is now under the auspices of the Old Town community and has grown to be the largest and merriest Cinco de Mayo fiesta in America.
Specials vary by location.

John August Swanson - Diane Powers was pleased to invite you to meet one of the world’s foremost serigraph artists, the incomparable John August Swanson.  Mr. Swanson works in the vibrant colors of medieval illuminated manuscripts.  He is particularly inspired by biblical stories, and what they say about the courage and resiliency of the human spirit in times of adversity.  Each is created by painstakingly hand-cutting a single silk-screen for each color printed – as many as 89 screens layering color over color.  Each is then signed and numbered. John was here to discuss his work and inspirations.  He is delightful and it’s always a special day when he is here with us.
